Obesity is classified as a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 (morbidly obesity is a BMI over 40). For these people, exercise may seem a stretch too far in that it can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing.

But the right type of exercise, taking into account all the movement issues the bigger body has to contend with in a supportive environment with like-minded people, can be a game-changer.

Even a modest weight reduction of 5% – 10% will result in positive changes to blood sugar regulation, cardiac risk factors, blood pressure and blood lipids. There is also a powerful and positive effect on mood, mental health and motivation.

All you have to do is take the first step.
